My Kinda Taste

At the heart of My Kinda Taste lies a passion that ignited within me long ago, when I was just a child. Cooking has always held a special place in my heart, not only for the tantalizing flavors it creates, but also for the remarkable sense of community it fosters. As a youngster, I would join my father at the grill for large family gatherings, immediate family Sunday night dinner, and neighborhood parties as I witnessed firsthand how a shared meal could bring people together, creating bonds that transcended the boundaries of age, culture, and background.

 

From those early experiences, a love affair with the kitchen was born. I found myself drawn to the stove, eagerly experimenting with ingredients and techniques, eager to bring joy to the palates of those I loved the most, and eager to surpass my father as grill master. Each meal became an opportunity to nourish not only their bodies but also their souls, as laughter and conversation flowed effortlessly around the dinner table.

 

Over a decade ago, a monthly tradition was born among my closest friends—a gathering we affectionately named "Meatfest.”  It was a celebration of all things grilled, smoked, and succulent; typically washed down by our favorite barley suds. As a resident flavor enthusiast, I took it upon myself to enhance the culinary experience by creating my own unique spice blends, sauces, and marinades. These tantalizing concoctions were met with resounding delight, and thus began the journey of honing my skills and expanding my repertoire.

 

Year after year, I dedicated countless hours to perfecting those initial recipes, carefully refining and improving upon them until they reached the harmonious symphony of flavors you see today. The joy I found in experimenting with spices, herbs, and aromatics was unparalleled, as I discovered the power they held to transform a simple dish into an extraordinary culinary masterpiece.
